Intermediate and Advanced
Japanese Education, Online
We offer online classes centered on JLPT N2/N1 and EJU reading comprehension, for learners preparing to study or advance in Japan, and for anyone who needs a more advanced level of Japanese.
Even where beginner-level Japanese is already taught, many institutions overseas find it hard to secure teachers who can take students through N2/N1 or EJU level.
At JLPT Compass,
a native Japanese instructor, currently teaching intermediate and advanced learners in Japan,
designs classes around your students' level, goals and academic calendar.
For Institutions Looking to Build Out
Intermediate & Advanced Japanese Classes
JLPT Compass primarily works with the following kinds of Japanese-language institutions and study-abroad organizations.
- You can teach up to around N4/N3 in-house, but don't have a teacher who can take students to N2 and beyond.
- You want to offer students a path through to JLPT N2 and N1
- You want to give students aiming for Japanese universities or vocational schools a higher level of Japanese instruction
- You want to strengthen EJU Japanese preparation, especially reading comprehension
- You want to bring native-Japanese-speaking instruction into your curriculum
- You want to fill the gap in intermediate/advanced-level classes that are hard to offer locally, using online lessons
JLPT Compass isn't meant to replace the beginner and intermediate education your institution already provides —
it's designed to complement it with N2/N1-level classes.
Centered on JLPT N2/N1
and EJU Reading
After reviewing your students' current level, academic goals, exam plans and course period, we'll propose a program that fits your institution.
A Syllabus & Curriculum Designed
Around Your Students
We don't simply hand over our existing individual-learner courses as-is for institutional use.
First, tell us about your institution and your students.
- Students' current level
- Learning goals, academic goals
- Planned JLPT / EJU exam dates
- Course period
- Preferred number of classes per week
- Number of students per class
- Materials currently in use
- What your institution already teaches
- Specific skills or areas to focus on
Based on these details, we'll design a course that complements your current curriculum.
※ Contracts are generally arranged on a per-semester basis.
Small-Group
Online Classes
All classes are held online. We can accommodate up to around 20 students per class, but recommend keeping groups small to preserve learning outcomes and give each student enough opportunity to speak and be checked individually — for example, a group of 20 can be split into two classes of 10.
Language of Instruction
Classes are taught in Japanese using the direct method, as a rule.
We supplement with English explanations as needed, depending on students' comprehension.
Online Setup
- JLPT Compass provides the class link (Google Meet or similar)
- Students will need an internet connection and a computer or tablet with a working camera and microphone
- If you have any questions about connectivity or equipment on the student side, we're happy to talk it through beforehand
How It Works

Drawing on JLPT N2/N1, EJU reading and intermediate Japanese, we'll propose course content, session count and a schedule that fits your students.
A trial lesson or workshop, if useful
If you'd like to see the class content before committing, we can run a roughly 45-minute online trial lesson or workshop.
Quote and final details
Once the course period, session count and class size are confirmed, we'll send a quote.
Classes begin, on a per-semester basis
Once the content and schedule are finalized, ongoing classes begin.
