Online JLPT N2 Reading Course

JLPT N2 Reading Practice,
From Losing the Thread to Reading It Through.

You could follow the text up through N3 — but N2 suddenly feels much harder. Sound familiar?
Our JLPT N2 preparation course gives you real N2 reading practice: tracking how a passage connects together while balancing accuracy and speed, so you can answer reading questions with confidence — with an evening schedule designed for learners in Europe, especially France and Central Europe.

Approx. 30 min | We'll review your current reading level and challenges

Online Japanese lesson on N2 reading
PROBLEM

You should be able to read this —
so why doesn't it connect?

Up through N3, you could follow a passage's meaning using vocabulary and grammar you already knew. At N2, though, you can understand each sentence on its own, yet lose track of how sentences and paragraphs connect. The longer the passage, the more likely you are to forget what came before by the time you reach the end.

Given enough time, you can piece the meaning together — but the real exam doesn't give you that time. The more carefully you try to read, the more your speed falls behind, and you run out of time before finishing.

You work through practice questions, check your answers, read the explanations when you get something wrong. You keep doing this, and yet the next time a similar passage comes up, you get stuck in the same place again.

Studying for N2 on your own can start to feel like it has a ceiling.

N2 reading calls for
rethinking how you read, not just reading more.

SOLUTION

Building Your JLPT N2 Reading Foundation, One Step at a Time

What trips learners up at N2 usually isn't ability — it's that a way of reading hasn't been built yet. Losing track of how sentences connect, or reading every part of a passage at the same speed, are common patterns.

In this JLPT N2 preparation course, we build a way of reading that balances accuracy and speed — through hands-on N2 reading practice, one piece at a time.

Finding a reading style
that works for you

You'll pick up practical JLPT N2 reading tips — where to read carefully, and where to pick up speed. Through practice, your own balance starts to emerge, a way of reading that holds up no matter what passage comes next.

Three JLPT N2 Reading Skills You Need

Tracking how the passage connects

Track how the passage connects

Understanding each sentence isn't enough if you lose sight of how the paragraph, and the passage as a whole, fits together. You'll practice tracking relationships like contrast, paraphrase, and cause-and-effect to follow the overall flow.

Building reading speed

Build the speed to finish in time

N2 passages get longer, and reading everything carefully can leave you short on time. Rather than reading at one fixed pace, you'll learn to adjust speed by section, so accuracy holds up even as you read faster.

Matching answer choices back to the text

Match choices back to the text

Instead of picking an answer choice by feel, you'll practice tracing it back to where it's actually supported in the passage. This foundation is exactly what makes the finer distinctions at N1 possible later on.

BENEFIT

JLPT N2 Reading: From a Weak Point to a Strength

Before
  • ✕N2 suddenly feels unreadable
  • ✕Longer passages, lost content
  • ✕Running out of time before the end
  • ✕Picking an answer by feel
▶
After
  • ◎Read while tracking the connections
  • ◎Balance accuracy and speed
  • ◎Match choices back to the text
  • ◎Finish the passage in time

That moment the passage finally connects, start to finish —
reading turns, little by little, into a question you can finish in time.

WHY N2

Why Aim for JLPT N2?

STUDY

A step toward
studying in Japan

Universities and vocational schools in Japan often expect N2 or higher as a benchmark of Japanese ability for admission — and it directly affects how well you can follow lectures and coursework once you're there.

CAREER

Opening up more
career options

N2 is often used as a benchmark of Japanese ability when applying for jobs or changing careers, and it can affect the range of companies open to you.

EVERYDAY LIFE

Reading Japanese
with confidence

Beyond exams, N2-level reading comprehension is what lets you follow real Japanese writing — documents, articles, and everyday correspondence — on your own.

Building N2-level reading comprehension
opens doors, wherever you're studying from.

Japanese Language Instructor (JLPT Prep)

With over 12 years of experience teaching Japanese, I've worked with learners around the world through one-on-one lessons on italki and Preply, and currently teach JLPT-level reading and grammar to international students at a language school in Tokyo.

In my reading classes, I don't just explain the correct answer and move on. I ask students to put their own thinking into words — where did the connection break down, how long did it take to read, why did you pick that choice.

Putting your own reasoning into words is what helps you notice how you read, and build the ability to correct it yourself.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — this class is designed exactly for that. At N2, passages get longer, and reading sentence by sentence makes it easy to lose the overall connection. In a small group of learners facing the same challenge, we practice tracking those connections and building reading speed one step at a time, which tends to build steadier progress than studying alone.
The course begins Monday, October 12, 2026 (JST). Regular Classes are held Sunday & Wednesday evening, Europe time — 21:00–22:30 CEST / 20:00–21:30 CET — which falls on Monday & Thursday, 4:00–5:30 JST.

All 14 sessions cover the same content either way. Everything is held online via Google Meet, and learners anywhere in the world are welcome, though our schedule is designed especially for students in Europe.
